Big day for the minis

By NSW Rugby Media

Hundreds of budding young rugby players will hit the rugby grounds around Sydney this coming Saturday for the popular minis gala day for players under the age of nine.

Nearly 330 teams from 50 clubs will play 360 games at nine different venues across Sydney in the Under 6, Under 7, Under 8 and Under 9 competitions. While the minis all belong to clubs that are part of Sydney Juniors, minis rugby is usually played locally in their own districts. The format for Saturday will be different though….. all Minis from the same club will travel to play against minis from other clubs that they don’t usually play. For example, if a club normally plays on the Northern Beaches then they might find their club is playing this round at Ryde against teams from the Eastern Suburbs, Western Sydney and Southern Districts.

There will also be lots of other entertainment for the kids, including all clubs participating in a club song-off as well as a mass floss-off where every young player will be on the field the floss dance..

The nine venues and their host clubs that all of this will take place at are:

• Keirle Park, Manly hosted by Manly Roos
• The Ridge in Menai, hosted by Menai
• HV Evatt Park in Oatley, hosted by Oatley
Hassall Park in St Ives, hosted by St Ives
• Balmoral Oval in Mosman, hosted by Mosman
• Alwyn Lindfield Reserve in Glenwood, hosted by Norwest
• Mittigar in Rooty Hill, hosted by Western Raptors
• Ryde Park in Ryde, hosted by Ryde
• St Lukes in Concord, hosted by Inner West Minis
